Acler (Q2500)

Adelaide-based designers Kathryn Forth and Julia Ritorto of Acler showed in Sydney for the first time this season, presenting a well-priced collection of ready-to-wear and cocktail attire. Graphic seam details and light prints were contrasted with lots of volume, the latter of which overwhelmed the models here and there.Forth and Ritorto seem to be at their best when they’re sending out easy pieces with just enough fashion edge, like a transparent plaid tea dress with white piping or a quasi-Victorian maxi dress in a delicate floral print. While the tricky styling on the runway left some looks feeling overcomplicated, the simple, stylish nature of Acler’s pieces will shine through on the rack. Good news for shoppers.
