Kiev veteran Elena Reva has decided to take her collection abroad. With interest in Ukraine’s shows waning, she’ll be showing her work privately in a showroom in Paris at the end of the month. She follows a growing line of Eastern European designers who have decamped for the French capital, including Anton Belinskiy, Anna October, and Lilia Litkovskaya. With business on the brain, Reva’s collection was more commercially minded than usual. She played it safe with airy dresses in floral prints, slips, and oversize suiting. There was a sleek continuation of trends, such as biker shorts paired with a double-breasted jacket. Flashes of skin in the form of cutouts at the waist of a dress helped add needed pizzazz. Still, considering the move that Reva is making, the collection could have used a bit more personality.

Elenareva is a go-to label in Ukraine for a pretty dress or an evening jacket. Fall received a bit of an update, though, thanks to designer Anton Belinskiy, who acted as stylist for the collection, lending some of his youthful underground flair to the polished looks.Take the suiting: A slouchy suit was worn with a tan turtleneck and aligned with the international trend of relaxedmenswear on the runway. Cocktail dresses weren’t stiff and were extremely sexy: A little black dress louchely hung off the body thanks to one long sleeve and a tiny spaghetti strap that looked like it would break. All generations of showgoers would be pleased when it came to the outerwear. A gold double-breasted coat worn with a white turtleneck underneath was as elegant as it was cool.
