Designer Elvira Gasanova is a dentist by day, but has managed launch a successful label in Ukraine. Most of her popularity has stemmed from her cheeky customized denim jackets. Ukrainian supermodels like Alina Baikova and Snejana Onopka have worn the pieces: Onopka even has a personalized jacket with her August 2005 ItalianVoguecover painted on the back.Gasanova’s runway collection is starting to gain traction in-country, too. Pieces like the clean-cut blazer and jacket with catchy gold and amber paint splatters were stand-outs; the furry white jumpsuit added a bit of funk to the lineup. The collection was a good way for Gasanova to start expanding her label’s reputation beyond denim.
