“I wanted this collection to be timeless,” Seung Gun Park explained backstage. This season, the Pushbutton designer hoped to explore the crossroads between past, present, and future, searching for items that could cross time and generations. “Whether it was popular then or will be popular later, I wanted to try mixing those things,” he said. “But looking at it now, I seem to have naturally gone toward the ’80s and ’90s that I lived through.”It felt like an in-between outing for the brand. Last season, Park memorably took Pushbutton in a new direction—away from eccentric, elevated streetwear and toward something that seemed heavily influenced by Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga. Though cleanly done, the overt bowing to trends was a bit disappointing as it lacked the playful spirit that Pushbutton became known for. Here, he halved the difference. There were plenty of suits, fanny packs, and some of the three-dimensional bra tops currently trending on Instagram, courtesy of New York’s Orseund Iris. Yet he also revisited several themes from last Spring.Park brought back men in heeled boots and gauzy lace blouses, which caused a stir one year ago. “I wanted to go away from gender and make it more about the desire to look cool, look beautiful,” he explained. Feminine ’80s silhouettes and colors returned, too, and standouts included a Pepto-pink microfloral skirtsuit and flowing silk dress over lilac jeans. The same retro cut of dress in lilac silk came layered over a garnet red Lurex shirt, while a mint green Canadian tuxedo was simple but fun. One could feel more of Park’s personal connection to it, which is certainly the right way to go.

An early fixture of Seoul’s fashion scene known for his playful street-inspired separates, Park presented a solid collection of strong-shouldered suit coats and otherwise ’80s-inflected dresses. Standouts included a pink Cinderella-style frock and an acid green silk jumper with a ruffled apron top cinched at the ankles.
